Leah Simone is a filmmaker from Jacksonville, Florida. She is a graduate of Howard University, and recently graduated from Columbia University with an MFA in Film. During the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election, she created content for @KamalaHQ as a Rapid Response Video Editor.
Leah has written and directed two short films and produced fourteen. Her thesis film, The Last Summer premiered at the 2024 New Orleans Film Festival. It has since received multiple accolades, including Grand Prize for Best Short Film at the HBCU FirstLOOK Festival and the Audience Award at the Columbia University Film Festival. It is exclusively streaming on Tubi as apart of the HBCU FirstLOOK Collection in partnership with Filmhub.
Additionally, Leah's upcoming short film Remember Her is the Winner of the 2025 Pandora Short Film Award.
Through storytelling, Leah aims to craft diverse and unique narratives that resonate universally by fostering empathy and understanding around complex societal issues and interpersonal dynamics.
